We recently hosted a hiring event like none we have ever hosted before. Early in the year, we decided to go remote with an event and test a Virtual Reality-based format using AltspaceVR, the leading platform for live, virtual events.
AIS had some experience with the platform before. Our CTO, Vishwas Lele hosted an internal session for AIS in December 2021. He also did a Microsoft Ignite session using AltspaceVR. We’re no strangers to testing out new tech for the sake of innovation and experience.
We thought the platform would be a great choice to host an interactive, networking-style hiring event to build awareness and future employee pipeline for specific, high-demand roles.
We tinkered with building a meeting space and did an internal demo of the staged environment, complete with Web Casting and branding of the virtual meeting room. The team was excited to experience a new format for engagement and community building. We felt the nature of this type of event would attract innovative applicants and showcase the AIS way of experimenting with emerging technology.
Here are some snapshots from the meeting room and event, as well as some takeaways:
1. Hosting a hiring event in the metaverse will attract like-minded individuals — innovative and curious.
2. Many of our employees enjoyed the experience of networking in a new format.
3. A presentation or demo in the metaverse can feel more engaging than other virtual meeting options.
4. The event provided a fun opportunity to experiment with metaverse building and world editing.
The team is looking forward to our next metaverse event. Would you attend a hiring or networking event in AltspaceVR? Let us know at recruiting@ais.com or check out our open career opportunities at ais.com/careers. We hope to hear from you!
